The leash is made of 3mm cord made in the UK and this cord was originally designed as marine outboard engine starter cord; hence it is very reliable & robust and must function time and time again in marine conditions.It is white with red fleck and so easy to see against the paddle and on your deck. The metal connector is a marine grade stainless steel (AISI 316) carabiner with a snag free keylock gate. The knot used is another slip knot to ensure it stays close and tight onto the connector.
To release the loop from the paddle place a thumb over the small stop knot on the shaft, then with the other hand grasp the toggle and pull away from your thumb. If you have a single piece paddle the loop can be enlarged to slip over the blade.

Should you capsize & become detached from your kayak then keep hold of your paddle and the leash will allow you to remain connected to the now heavy water filled boat!
